The Good Gifter

Sharanya Caleb

James 1:17 " Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."

The faithfulness of our Eternal Father in heaven is a common subject that we like to brush up on every now and then. But the topic of how deep His constant love can run is a study that is less undertaken to be understood and lesser really understood. When God makes up His mind to bless us with something, no matter what changes, He won't relent from executing it. It is as sure a thing as the judgement He must mete out to sin in the sinner (the same judgement that Christ Jesus received on our behalf) (Zechariah 8:14-15 " This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Just as I had determined to bring disaster on you and showed no pity when your ancestors angered me,” says the LordAlmighty, “so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid. ")

In the cosmic realm, we learn that planetary positions and revolutions account for how much light the earth receives from the sun and other luminous bodies in the galaxy. With each shift in position and at every turn of revolution, at least some parts of the earth won't receive any light at some given point in time or the other. But with God, there is no variation in his good intent toward us nor any shadow of doubt about the blessing he plans for us because He has obligated Himself to perform His word over us in any given circumstance (Matthew 24:35 " Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."). Unlike the Sun, moon and stars whose light toward the earth varies and casts shadows on account of several factors, our God is the Everlasting Light Himself, shining down His glorious purposes toward us constantly (Isaiah 60:19"The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.")

We need to know that blessing us brings great happiness to God and He thoroughly enjoys doing it (Jeremiah 32:41 "I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul"). So, if what we have in our hands is not good enough or perfect yet, we must know that God is not done blessing us. That promotion we got passed over for? That new medication that's still not working the miracle healing we prayed for? Not to worry. Let us not limit God on what He can and will do for us because His plans for us are far bigger and better than all that we can think and imagine (Isaiah 55:9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.") All we need ever do is ask with the simplicity of a child who requests of the father a dearly desired gift and knows that it will surely be given (Matthew 7:11 "...how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!")

God Bless.
