In Genesis 38 we read of Tamar, the daughter-in law of Judah, who was forced to resort to devious means to beget an heir for Judah's household. The proof of her innocence, the evidence of what (or whose) she carried in her womb was in the pledge that she received from Judah- his seal, cord and staff.
I have read of this profound question asked of many of us believers today: "If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?"
We need proof of who we carry. If we claim to bear Jesus Christ (God's only Son) in our hearts, we better show up with the evidence of it. A positive paternity test would show the pledge that we've received from God himself, His seal- the Holy Spirit, His cord- His binding love , His Staff- identification (our new image in Christ).
